London Protest Highlights Persecution of Christians in India and Pakistan: A Call for Justice and Unity
A coalition of Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and people of other faiths held a Protest for Christians in India and Pakistan who are suffering persecution. Wilson Chowdhry of United by Faith a key figure in the Pakistani Christian community was asked to preside over the event by all the associated groups.
In a compelling
display of solidarity and compassion, a protest was organized in London to shed
light on the ongoing persecution of Christians in India and Pakistan. This
event, orchestrated by a coalition of individuals and organizations, aimed to
bring attention to the disturbing incidents of violence and discrimination
faced by Christian communities in these nations.
The gathering
commenced at the Pakistani High Commission and later moved to the Indian High
Commission and 10 Downing Street. At each location, petitions were delivered,
and impassioned pleas were made for justice, peace, and the safety of
persecuted Christians.
The protest kicked
off at 11 am at the Pakistani High Commission, where diverse speakers addressed
the crowd, fervently advocating for improved safety, peace, and justice for
persecuted Christians. Recent attacks that shook the Christian community were discussed,
including the burning of 26 churches and 100 homes in Jaranwala, near
Faisalabad in Pakistan.
The event started
with worship led by Sally and Hammad Bailey. Notably, the worship music was
primarily in English, emphasizing the clear message of the protest—focused on
Christian persecution without veering into other agendas. Despite addressing a
sensitive issue, the protest group maintained goodwill within the local
community, receiving no complaints about their activities.
Nissar Hussain, a Christian convert from Islam, shared his harrowing 17-year experience of persecution in the UK after openly embracing Christianity. He recounted a brutal attack that left him hospitalized for 11 days, passionately calling for justice for all those who have suffered, lost homes, or belongings in the recent attacks in Jaranwala.
